Swap Mail and Shopping

I received my Christmas Swap in the mail on Thursday. What could be better than beautiful fabric in the mail.......Fabric and chocolate! Thanks again to Sandy for the gift.

On Friday I took a road trip to Laurens, SC. I had 3 quilts that I wanted to drop off at Stitches Quilt Shop to be quilted by Betsey Dinger, their very gifted longarm quilter. I was able to schedule with her to do a quilt a month starting in January. Yea! Also they were having a SALE Nov 13th & 14th.

The shop is full of  books, patterns, and beautiful fabric.

While in the shop I ran into two of my fellow quilters, Rori and Debbie. So we had lunch together in Laurens at the Hummingbird Cafe. Then we all went to The Quilted Pearl in Columbia, SC on our way back to Aiken.

This Shop is one of my favorites, because they have a large selection of Batiks and Oriental fabrics. When we arrived they were just unpacking 24 bolts of 30's fabric. They also have a large selection of every color in the rainbow.

I got a shot of Rori, but Debbie didn't want to pose.

Finally I was able to fill in the needed fabris for Bonnie Hunter's upcoming mystery Quilt. I chose the top fabric for a border to bring it all together. Now just patiently waiting for the day after Thanksgiving for the first clue............Marj

Another Choice

I am now leaning toward using these batiks for making the mystery quilt with Bonnie. I have 8-blues and 6-purples. I would need to get 2 more purples, background and I am thinking a really bright pink.

Any sugestions what the other color should be?

purple, blue & ............Pink, gold, green or ...........? I think the background will be a very pale shade of whatever the third color is.

Please tell me what you think.

I am going to take three of my finished quilt tops over to STITCHES, in Laurens,SC. They are having a sale Friday Nov.13th and Sat Nov. 14th. So while I am there I can get the rest of the fabric for the mystery quilt. http://www.stitchesinc.net/

Mystery Quilt

Monday was my Guild meeting.

This is a picture of the 123 stockings that the Carolina Pine Quilters made this year. They will be filled for  some local charities by our Guild.

Also mailed out my 2 fats, ribbon and buttons to my Christmas Swap partner.

I'm looking through my stash to find out what color combination I want to make tonight, Bonnie is using Christmas colors, but I don't think I want another red and green quilt this year. I am thinking red,blue, gold & cream. What will you choose?

Below is a preview of the applique border that I am working on.

I have now gotten all the pieces prepared and will start to machine blanket stitch them down today.

This is a quilt that I was able to buy from our Church's silent auction on Saturday. It is a pattern that I have wanted for a long time. I am so lucky to get such a beautiful hand quilted piece done by the quilters at St Johns United Mwthodist Church. The funds raised from the Apple Festival go to help Children's Ministeries in our town.

Now I need to get a quilt hanger to put on the big wall in my living room so I can display this beautiful quilt. What is the best way to hang big quilts? This one is about 72" x 80".
