First 20 swap blocks

I received my first 20 swap blocks and have been playing with some ideas of what I might do with them.

This week has also given me some obstacles to overcome. First on Tuesday my DH was was given his layoff notice. We will be ok, but this will be a big time of changes for us.
Then last night, luckily I was not sewing at the time, my large 8' long wire shelf in my sewing area fell. That means many plastic boxes and piles of stash fabric fell to the top of my sewing desk and floor. I think someone was looking out for me, because had I been sewing, I surly would have been injured. Only two of the boxes got broken. So far I have temporarily moved all the stuff from the shelf to the garage. Now I need to remove all the stuff that is in free standing plastic drawers and selves some place so that we can fix the storage area to be stronger and safer. I found out I have way too many projects backed up and now I will have to clean out the excess. I guess the sunny side of this is that in October our guild is having a garage sale for the program that month. I should probably send out emails to warn the members of their good fortune.
Well, I'm off to sort, clean, fix, and hopefully sew..........Marj

Monday Guild Pictures

Last night was a lot of fun. Our Carolina Pine Quilters guild meeting was Christmas in July. We had food to share and a great show and tell. I was not able to get very many pictures but this gives you a taste of the talent of our quilters.

Nancy gave us a demo of making some Christmas wreaths using leftover squares of fabric and straw wreath forms.
This was a fun scrap project.

This was a BOM that our guild did about 2 years ago. Way to go its a UFO no more and what a beautiful border. This was a wedding present that was back from the longarm quilter. Susan just has to trim and bind, to get finished in time for the wedding.

Paula is one of our very talented Art Quilters, this is a new purse pattern that she just purchased and the first one is for herself. Annmarie finished her Quilt Tote from a class she took at the LQS in May. I think it turned out great.

I showed these two table runners that I made while visiting my mother in Ohio.

Now I am back to working on my RWB quilt.............Marj

RWB Quilt progress

I have been working on my RWB Quilt, so far I have completed these two diamond side pieces and about 100 half square triangles. Tonight is Quilt Guild meeting so, I'll probably not get too much done on this quilt. The meeting tonight is Christmas in July, so I will try to take some pictures during show and tell...............Marj
