30s Quilt continued

This is a picture of the 30s Quilt that I am working on.
I now have 16 of the 24 center stars done.

I probably have about half of the 1,052 HST's pieced and squared up they are 2 1/4".

Lucky for me the kit I purchased from Sew Many Quilts in OR came with instructions for making eight HST at a time. You draw an "X" on a six inch square. Sew 1/4" on both sides of each marked line. Make four cuts 1-horizontal, 1-vertical, and 1-each corner to corner.

Press seams open and trim to 2 1/4".

I like this method of construction for HST units because the outside edges are on the grain of the fabric, not bias.

Hopefully I will get all the HST units done tomorrow and block construction started by Friday. Now it's back to sewing and trimming...........Marj

Back to piecing

Still pondering about quilting designs and trying to jump in and just do it. I feel that piecing is what calls to me at this time.
So, it's back to piecing, I have lots of projects backed up in plastic boxes. This is a kit that I purchased almost exactly one year ago. It is really shameful to have so many projects just sitting there waiting to be worked on, so I am on a mission to honestly try to not buy any new projects until I finish at least half of the ones I have. My DD#1 is trying to help hold me to my mission by giving me grief when I bring home anything from a quilt store that is not something needed to finish a project that I already have. I also have my BFF working on the same mission at her house. Checks and balances are a good thing.

So, its back to the sewing machine I go to piece thousands of HST.........Marj
