Sunflower blocks

I have been sewing these star blocks since Thursday. I like the way they are made using strips. The background strip is wider than the star strips so that they can be squared up after sewing. I have finished 8 and hope to finish 8 more tomorrow.

The Quiltlet is very cute and I will have fun using the yo-yo maker. The fabric is pretty, the candle and other goodies are appreciated.

Chipper checked out the prizes and new books that I picked up yesterday.

The Rose of Sharon book was a challenge that used only three shapes to make the blocks. There are 83 block layouts in the book. The blocks only use a leaf shape, flower and circles combined with bias stems, so I think this is a great beginner applique project. Also in this book are directions by Sharon Pederson's quilt as you go method. I like the hexagon shaped blocks.

The other book has patterns for six very cute small quilts. My favorite is the tree quilt that depicts all 12 months.

Weeds and Scraps

Wow! I can't believe that this week is almost half over. I have spent the last two days doing some weeding in the flower beds in the front of my house. I plan on taking out most of the landscaping and replanting it in a smaller easier to handle size and lower maintenance plants.

On the quilting front I have been working on these scrap blocks. I liked how Regina's  blocks were sached so I am using her design to put my blocks together. Since I am now very sore from weeding I will probably take Wednesday off and do some of my other household chores. Hope that you are having a good week.
