Owl Quilt

I laid out my owl border fabric, the started blocks and the pattern, but the inspector didn't want you to see it. The pattern is from Quiltmaker July/August 09 issue. My Dad made templates out of thick plastic for me when I visited Ohio the end of June.

I was able to pull the blocks out from under him. I had previously made 8 blocks and as of tonight I made 8 more. I also finished cutting out all the pieces for the rest of the blocks earlier today. My plan is to make a Queen size quilt, so I will have to make 56 blocks.

Yea! The inspector finally moved. I may try to applique a few owls onto this top to match the ones in the border fabric. I will probably work on this and the tangled stars (if I can decide to keep the same background for the stars, I'm still not sure about it)

Tangled Stars

Still having a hard time getting down to quilting so......I guess I'll start piecing another top. This is one that I purchased the fabric February 2008 (the receipt was still with it) I have been wanting some of the new Floragraphix line that is in shops now, but shouldn't spend at this time, so I looked in my stash of waiting projects and low and behold I found this old Floragraphix fabric. The pattern is from Quilt magazine, March '08, "oh my tangled stars!"
What do you think, should I change the blue tone on tone background to something lighter? Is it too close to being the same value as the green tone on tone of the lattice? I sure would like to hear some of your opinions before I continue.

Old Project

I went to a new quilt group today and decided to take a hand sewing project with me. The Banksia Quilting Society meets at the Aiken History Museum on the third Monday of the month.
I already had eight flowers complete when I pulled this at least 2 year old project out to work on. The hexagons are basted onto plastic patties and then sewed together before removing. The plan is to make a wall hanging with a basket of flowers.(wish me luck!)

As you can see the quilt inspector was not impressed by my progress.......oh well. I have not been able to get too enthused about quilting anything lately. Since my DH has been home going on the second week, he spends most of the day on the computer, job hunting. And today was back to school for my youngest daughter. Thursday is back to class for my college age daughter. So, I am not quite able to concentrate on my own projects very well yet. Hopefully things will get back to some kind of normal or settle down to some sort of normal soon........Marj
