Still quilting on this large quilt...

I am still getting the large star quilted, it is very tedious. I did the little brown star in the center a little different. As the seams in the very center are quite thick, I did not want to quilt through them. Not sure if you can see it. I will post a picture of my test sketch later.

The rest of these tissue paper tracings are what I use to pin to the quilt and stitch thru to get consistent designs onto the quilt without marking on the fabric. This way I only have to draw the motif once and then trace it to get as many copies as I need.

Continuing quilting on Mary's star...

 I finally came up with a design for the large blank spaces. I used  Judi Madsen's book Quilting wide Open Spaces for inspiration. I am thinking of filling the edges with feathers.

I used a continuous curve in the large star and am still thinking if I want to do something special in the center brown star or just do more continuous curves.

I hope to get this quilt finished by the end of the weekend.

My procrastinating is now over...

This is a very large and beautiful quilt made by Mary R. I am starting at the bottom and quilting towards the top. There is extra space to quilt at the top as it has extra length for a pillow tuck. I will be putting feathers in the cream border and continuous curves in the diamonds.

Memories.....

I took both of my newer machines in to the sewing machine shop last Friday for general service and cleaning. I needed to hem some pants that I purchased recently, so I decided to pull out one of my older machines. This was my Mother's machine and I sewed on it as a teenager. It was fun to sew on it again and seems to run so much smoother than my newer computerized machine. My pants are now hemmed and I still love this machine. Wish I had not traded my machine that was the sister to this one in on my second machine that I bought on my own. Oh well hind sight is 20/20.
