Pinwheel quilt ready to send home....

I finished quilting my Mom's Pinwheel Quilt. It was good practice.

The quilting is very wonky, but the piecing on this quilt is also kind of wonky. I was unable to use my rulers with the way my handles are  on my machine, so until I can get the closer handles I will just have to do free hand quilting, which will get better with more practice and patience. Tomorrow I will ship my Mom's two quilts off to her.

 I also got to play with my treadle sewing machine today. My friend Ester came over and gave the inside of the machine a good cleaning. Then she showed me how to wind a bobbin and sew with the treadle. I am glad I have someone in my life that has worked in a Singer sewing machine store.

Something new at JoAnn's...

I needed some orange and purple thread for my mom's Pinwheel quilt, so I made a trip to JoAnn's. I found a Quilt Mania magazine, I love all the ideas that are in it. I also found a ruler for doing stitch in the ditch on the long arm. The best part is that it is so new that they had not marked it down yet and I was able to use a 50% off coupon. Score! I paid $10.00 for it. So, tomorrow after meeting with my quilting Pals I am going to get the pinwheel quilt quilted.

It worked....

Scotty was good this morning and slept on my cutting table on a quilt that is ok for cats. And he left the long arm alone last night.

Chipper loves soft blankets and he slept on the Long arm this morning after breakfast. He is fine there because he only sleeps and is not destructive to the quilt.

It worked!

After taking the cat and the blanket off, I was able to complete the quilting on this quilt. The panto I used was "Spring Garland" by Beany Girl Quilts. I had to remove Scotty from the long arm a couple of times today before he got the idea that this is not a play structure. I will be glad when he gets a little older and settles down. Lucky for him that he is sooo cute. He will be one in May.

New protection system .....

I have my mother's quilt on the frame and was not able to finish it today, so I needed to protect it from Scotty the Monkey cat. This acrylic fuzzy blanket is disliked by the cats because it has static electricity. I am hoping that it will protect the quilt while I sleep tonight.
