Kalideiscope class and the big bag theory

I taught part one of my 4 patch Kaleidoscope class to day at the Aiken Quilt Shoppe. The next half of this class will be March 11 to add the sashing and border.
This weekend I worked on using up some 5"charm squares that I have had for quite awhile. The pattern was in this month's McCall's Quilting. It turned out to be a very, very large bag, I did not read the title of the article before I started the bag. Thought it would be a good size for the grocery shopping. Then surprise it is so big I think it would be better for taking quilt tools to a retreat. ( it measures 20"x20"x10") The title of the article was "The Big Bag Theory" and I added one row to make it deeper.
Grady the seam inspector was not impressed. Maybe the next project will be more to his liking..........Marj

UFO #4

This weekwend I went on a shopping trip saturday to Mary Jo's to get a backing for this UFO, some black background fabric and tree bark/wood & animinal fur colored fabrics. To my dismay the 30's fabric was low in supply and so was black background fabric, but I did find a few other things. My other unhappy thing that happened on friday was that I dropped my iron (it is a Panasonic cordless) and now it does not heat up. Since it was my favorite, I plan to call my sewing machine repair guy to see if he can fix it. If he can't I guess I will have to get another one, because I am now down to using my travel size iron. Maybe you can help by letting me know what brand your favorite iron is?
This is a kit that I purchased in July of 2008 and cut it out shortly after receiving it in the mail from Sew Many Quilts (of Bend, OR).
So this week I plan to get some quilting done and that will bring my spirits up........
