Mail Call

 

Bandit was my helper last night as I trimmed all of  the usable parts from my thrift store finds.

  

 Here is the finished pile, my new stash of wool scraps. This will give my Wool Crazy quilt my own flair and enable me the chance to enlarge it if I would like later.

  

Saturday's mail brought the Wool Crazy Book and first installment of Primitive Gatherings "Wool Crazy Ladies Club" BOM.

 

I'm glad that I signed up with this club, because they sent extra instructions that were much more detailed than the book. As a beginner I found this very helpful and the full size layout sheet didn't hurt. Now I'm off to get started........Marj

Goodwill stop

After stopping at my DD#2's school to pick up a login & password to her classroom grades, I made a stop at the local Goodwill Store. I found four wool blazers and three shirts. Now I need the help from those of you that do wool applique. Once that I cut up the jackets do I then wash and dry them just the same as cotton fabrics?

 

I really like the with the flowery stripes. The royal blue wool has the bonus of a satin lining. Now I am off to cut the shirts up and will wait to hear what to do with the wool.

Quilt Progress

I want to thank all of you who left me your encouraging comments on my last post, it helps to know that others understand my loss.

I have about half of the binding sewn down. I regret making such big quilts only when sewing the binding down. The Quilting turned out beautiful, thanks to Betsy Dingger at Stitches in Laurens, SC. I'm slowly getting back to quilting without my little helper. Today was the first day that I really missed his wake up call, I guess that I will have to set an alarm on the days when the rest of the family goes off to work and school. My other two pets just sleep in and don't seem to have any plan for the day.

My day has gotten better, look what arrived in the mail. My friend Bonnie's book Leaders and Enders. Also the book Under Twin Suns that I am reading for Wendy at http://inkythreads.blogspot.com/ 
Wendy is an author and a quilter. I think the books will be just the distraction I need right now.
