Tonga BOM started

I picked up the first block of Tonga Rhapsody on Friday and I finished assembling it today. My plan is to pick them up on Fridays and sew them on Saturday. Now I just need to work on getting my lisa's garden BOM blocks caught up.

I was temped into purchasing some fabric when I picked up the BOM. The beige fabric was on clearance and the two reds were 75% off Christmas fabric. Now I'm off to try and get my other BOM (Lisa's Flower Garden) caught up. 

Each month you are to applique 4 flowers and piece 5 nine patches. I was able to get all three months of the applique blocks prepared to stitch and do one months set of nine patches. I plan to do the stitching Sunday night during TV watching, I sure hope there is something worth watching. lol

Is it only Tuesday?

Why is it that we always wish for days with more hours in them and when we get them they seem to drag on too long. Since I have had two days at home (unplanned) because of the snow and ice, the days seem very long. We have had to stay home and not drive anywhere, cabin fever has started to set in. I am planning to go grocery shopping tomorrow just to get out of the house. The weather man says it will be safe to go out then, so all of the rest of the family will be back to their regular schedule, yea.

 I have been playing with one of my new rulers. I like how the border is turning out, even tough it is not easy to make the triangles with the y-seam. I am planning to put this on a quilt using these fabrics that I will be making in February at a Mystery quilt event.

Icy Monday in the South

When we get ice or snow in the South everything shuts down and most people stay home.

So far it looks like only one car has left the neighborhood.

Our vehicles all have a quarter inch coating of ice on them.

 Even the poor little birdies are having to deal with ice on their feeder.

This was supposed to be my first day at home with  the rest of the family at work, school and college. I am glad they are all safe here at home, but it will not be a peaceful day of quilting. I just hope that the ice does not get worse and our electricity stays on.

How I spent my Saturday...

I spent the day at The Aiken Quilt Shoppe

 They hosted a meet the teachers event for the first quarter classes at the shop. My January class is a table runner called Jacob's Jazz.

My February class is Word play and the students who take this class will get Tonya's book at a discounted price. Fun and a savings too!

I will be teaching Curvaceous Bargello Blocks in March.

I brought in my award winning quilt to show another version of the pattern. So far there are two classes forming for this class.

It was a fun day and now I must prepare for either the big snow/ice storm that is predicted or for the raw edge applique demo for CPQ guild meeting Monday night. I wonder which one will be......
