Quilt As You Go

After finishing the construction of my baskets I decided to take a break and finish a UFO. This two sided quilt as you go quilt has been in the Que for at least a year and a half.........

The quilt inspector really likes to work on this project because it starts out cushy and soft.

This is a quilt that I started for myself and I guess that is why it never got finished. The first side is 36 different flowers and the other side is Beatrix Potter, my favorite. The Beatrix Potter side has Moda's Sanctuary flowers around the characters with a red grid that covers where the blocks are joined. Now that I have gotten back to this project I am excited about getting it done so that's what I will be working on for awhile............Marj

More basket blocks

Well, I finished piecing all 18 of the basket blocks for my latest quilt that is under construction. Now I may take a break and finish a UFO before starting the machine applique of flowers on the basket blocks......Marj

Monday guild meeting

The following quilts were made by members of The Carolina Pine Quilters (none by me)
This quilt was made from one jelly roll and some extra fabric for the border

This quilt started from a table runner pattern, done with the peeled back method, what a beautiful quilt.

This is the center of a quilt in progress using a Quick method of making flying geese. Tonight's program was a skills fair and it was very informative. We are so lucky to have many talented ladies in our guild. The demos were:

1. flying geese made from one large square and four smaller squares.
2. Scrappy stars made from precut parts, kind of a "Bonnie Hunter" style of piecing.

3. A petal pouch draw string bag, made from two squares of fabric.

4. "Furoshiki" a type of Japanese wrapping cloth that are frequently used to transport clothes, gifts, lunches, or other goods. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furoshiki)

Sorry that I didn't get pictures of the demos, my camera had weak batteries, next skills fair I will make sure I have fresh batteries.
