Student quilt tops

Today was meet and greet the Teachers at the Aiken Quilt Shoppe. Myself and the other Teachers presented our classes for the next few months. It was a fun full morning and I got to see a couple of my Student's finished quilt tops.

This is Julie's third quilt. She opted to make a lap size quilt and I think she did an awesome job.

 This gorgeous top was sewn by Nora. It was made with mostly batik fabrics. She also did an A+ job.

Distracted...??

I got distracted yesterday when I found that I did not have any batting long enough for the borders of the flower/Beatrix potter quilt. I am really slow when it comes to finishing, I did go get the batting for the borders and still haven't cut them yet. I started working on some wool applique projects. 

I found this light blue fabric that has been percolating in my stash for many years. I think the Hearts for all seasons will look great on it. Also got my Lisa's flower garden BOM traced onto the freezer paper.

The day after...

Today was the day after my birthday. My Mother-in-law made a wonderful dinner for me yesterday with all the trimmings. She served strawberry shortcake for desert. So all in all it was a wonderful birthday. My gift is to go to Cincinnati to attend the International Quilt Festival next week. I am going with two of my quilting buddies from here and we are staying with one of our blogging buddies in the Cincinnati area.

Until then this is what I'm working on.

It is a king size quilt as you go double sided quilt. I have all the rows assembled, they are waiting to put together. One side of the quilt is flowers and the other side is Beatrix Potter theme.

 I foundation pieced the corners for the border today. The flower side has just a white border and the Beatrix Potter side has a pieced border. I had planned to work on the quilt all day. But, I was called to substitute for a lady in a Canasta card game this morning. Now the plan is to try and at least finish the borders tomorrow. I guess having a birthday has set my mind to trying to finish some of my old UFOs. I also have my two BOM's to do before the middle of next month.(they will be good for when I need a break from the UFO's)
