Almost finished...

Here's another peek at the quilting for Regina. I now have all the squares and pies quilted. Tomorrow I will finish the last two borders of hearts.

I played at the LQS on Thursday afternoon and laid out these options for the setting triangles for the scrappy hexagons.

I noticed that this is my 500th post.

Quilting later today...

I started Regina's quilt, it has finally spoke to me. First was the hearts for the white border.

 Then this morning the design for the blocks came to me.

I have Busy Bees this morning, but after that I am going to get quilting the rest of the quilt.

 Quilt Inspector Scotty has nixed the beige triangles. So, I am still trying to find a color that works with scrappy.

These are hexagon blocks that I made from two and a half inch strips a few years ago. They have been sitting on my sewing desk waiting for inspiration. On Monday night at my Guild meeting I won the door prize, a $10.00 gift certificate at the LQS. Nowadays that is about one yard of fabric. I thought of adding triangles to these hexies to make them into diamond shapes for easier construction of rows without the use of a design wall. The added triangles would make stars with a hexagon in the center. I counted and I have 170 hexagons. They are very scrappy and now I need to decide what color to use to help tie them together. Does anyone have an idea of a good color to use when there is a wide variety of scraps?

I had a big piece of beige print in my stash, so I tried it out on twenty hexies. The price is right, but I'm not sure that I like it.

Sunday finish....

This was a set of exchange blocks that I think I received in 2010. I cut them in half and added black. It measures 45" x 56". I sewed the binding from back to front with my sewing machine, since this is not for show, only practice.
