Center finished

I ended up making 30 House blocks. They are 9" finished. I go to my Girlfriends retreat a week from this Monday and I will add some borders top and bottom. Probably some saying about houses or home.

Can anyone tell me how I can print letters that are white outlined in black ?

This is the picture that I promised of my sewing area. It is in the large pantry just off the Kitchen. It measures 6'x 8', has one window and is very cozy. My cutting area is our Kitchen table. As you can see I am not a very neat & tidy sewer. The many plastic boxes are projects that are waiting to be worked on. I have some stash but it is just piled on a set of shelves, not sorted by color, just piled up. And when I decide to have dinner at the Kitchen table I shove everything into the pantry. I guess my Family loves me because they put up with my creative mess. So, are you messy or neat?

House Blocks

I thought that I would cut out these blocks to sew at the retreat I am going to in May, but they were just too tempting.

The only thing I did wrong was not to cut an even amount of right & left triangles for the block borders. I have 17 tilting left and only 8 tilting right. I may have to find 5 more 10" squares of Moda's Heritage collection.........maybe it will be ok when I lay them out.
 
This book has many patterns that look easy to make and they use the precut fabrics.

 Yes, they are very tempting. He is quite the helper.

30's Lap Quilt

The 30's Lap Quilt now has the binding sewn down and the inspection is complete.

Chipper is a very good helper, he is adjusting to quilting just fine.

Next on my list of things to do is to figure out what project to take to the Idaho retreat to work on. The other quilt that I got back still has to have the binding made and sewed on. It's too big to take along so it probably will have to wait till I after my retreat trip.

Binding Done

Finished sewing the binding on this morning. But now I am behind, because the two quilts that I sent to my Mom's friend in Ohio, in January, arrived in the mail on Saturday.
Some of the ladies following my blog asked me to post what magazine this quilt came from. The pattern was in the Quilt Sampler, Spring/Summer 2008 issue.

The new Inspector is still too easily distracted right now. He did check out the under side of the quilt when I was spreading it out.

He's ready to pounce on his toy here.

But he is easiest to photograph when sleeping, as are most babies.
