A FINISHED TOP

I started with this class and quilt block on Saturday.
I was not trying to be an over achiever (as my DD would say), but as of today I was able to finish the quilt top. I was in a hurry because I wanted to get it put together for show an d tell on Monday night. I also was unsure if I had enough fabric to finish the top. Lucky for me my friend Connie had a piece of my background fabric, because I was short by a quarter of a yard. This is a good pattern for using up scraps. You can make both the stars and the background scrappy.

I have too many quilt tops done, waiting to be quilted. I am now going to have to take them out and find some long arm quilters who are reasonable and have time to do some custom quilting.

In the meantime, I think I will try to finish my flower quilt. At least it is a quilt as you go and when I'm done sewing all that is left will be to add the binding.

Galaxy Stars

I decided that just adding plain old borders to this quilt would be boring........
So, after much thought and lots of figuring I came up with the idea to edge the quilt with more small stars.

Here is a glimpse of how the small stars will look. I am trying to get this top together by next Monday for show and tell at the guild meeting. Well now I must get to bed and rest up so that tomorrow I can continue putting all of these gazillion pieces together. What is it about us quilters, we take perfectly good fabric cut it up into little pieces and then sew it back together again.........Marj

Galaxy Stars Class

I took a class from Anita Bowen called Galaxy Stars on Saturday. It is a very fun class and everyone ends up with their first block completed and a good start on chain piecing the components for the rest of their blocks. Here is my block, I used my collection of Oriental fat quarters.

This is the almost finished block that our newest quilter of the group was making. I love her choice of background. This pattern is easy enough for even beginners.

My good friend Connie used Batiks and some fabric for her background that she swears I gave her for a Birthday present a few years ago. lol :)

This is Nancy and I liked how the yellow put sparks into her block. also she made her background scrappy.

And last but not least my friend Susan (also the winner of the fat quarters I gave away) shows off her block. I like all her greens on the beige background.

I sewed for a while after dinner last night and have almost got all of my star parts ready for assembly. I hope to have a top together by our CPQ Guild meeting Monday August 10th.

But for today I must get ready for My company, because it is my turn to cook Sunday dinner.......Marj
