New Basket Quilt

I taught a Quilt Class at the local quilt shop on Friday, only one student in attendance. I guess that summer is here, seems like most people are busy. I think that I will not sign up for any more classes to teach until Fall.

Saturday morning I joined some of my guild members and helped teach how to make pillow cases to some kids at the local shelter. The kids took to the task really well and all the volenteers agreed to return for more classes. We had 18 kids attend and they all were able to complete a pillow case, that they could keep.

The other accomplishment of this weekend is I have started the basket quilt for my Mother's Christmas present. Background cut, one of 18 baskets assembled, and now all I have to do is stay motivated and machine applique flowers on all 18 baskets.

New Car

We spent the end of our holiday weekend test driving little 'rollerskate' cars. We ended up with what seemed to be the best inexpensive car for the money, if there is one. We traded in an old 1999 Buick for a 2009 NISSAN Versa. Now our two girls have a more reliable car to get them back and forth to school and we the parents will have piece of mind.

We picked it up today and then my husband had to go to work and I took it to the Quilted Pearl in Columbia for a joy ride. It was really fun to drive and it held the fat quarters and fabric very nicely.
