Progress

I have made my final layout and the inspection is complete. The rows are sewn together and labeled for later construction. Now I must take a break from my quilting to clean house.

Because at about 7:30 tonight my Mother in law arrives. She is staying in a hotel until her furniture arrives, but will spend her waking hours with us at our house. Lucky for me she is a very nice lady and I love her very much. So our new family adventure will begin........Marj

Beach House Square in a square

Here are the blocks that I have been working on this week.

I took these blocks over to my local Quilt shop to layout and show Nancy, since she is the one who tempted me into getting this fabric. I am planning to put these together and quilt as I go. This is also going to be one of my classes at the quilt shop this coming quarter.

My mother in law is moving here as of Saturday, so I will most likely not get to start quilting this until mid next week. Looking at the layout in the picture I think I will be moving blocks around. I may remake the one light block on the left because it seems a little too dark.

Traveling Quilt

I found a new iron that seems to be as good as my old one except this one is not cordless.

Since last post I have been battling a cold that I swear my DH gave to me, since he was the only sick one in the house at the time it got me. So I've just been lurking and doing a lot of reading. Can't remember where but someone was talking about getting fabric and having buyers remorse when they ran across it again years later. I also found a picture of a beautiful quilt on quiltsalott.blogspot.com , which reminded me of a purchase that I made years ago. The purchase was of some really neat templates that make cutting out drunkards path blocks way easier.

I have had these now for at least two years , but have never used them and had been having remorse about spending money on yet another gadget that has not been used. When I came across the picture of that quilt that existed as a BOM in Australia it came to me that I could use these templates to create a version of the quilt I saw. I also have a collection of 6" squares that my quilting bee group bring home from our travels to share with each other, that have been waiting (probably 5 years worth) for the perfect project. Seeing the picture of the quilt got my sick brain clicking and I got out the templates and the traveling squares, then I started sewing them together. Soon I will be able to use the templates to cut out the blades for the wheels for my traveling quilt project.

Hopefully I will get this quilt well on its way to getting done before to many more squares build up again.
