A quilt and a movie

Finished the Quilts for Kids top. Now I just have to make some time to quilt it.

I went to a movie today with my college age daughter. We saw Alice in wonderland, it was a good movie , fun and light.

Package in the mail

UPS brought me a package and in it was the kit from Quilts for Kids Project. I will prepare the blocks today and sew the top together on Thursday at Busy Bee's. Aren't the fabrics they sent bright and cheery?

This is the stuff that spoke to me at the Charleston Quilt Show. Kind of boring, white wool and a marking pencil to use on the Wool Crazy Quilt. Some already wound bobbins for my Janome. A pattern by Judy Nemeyer, because I've always wanted to make one of her quilts and since I now didn't have to pay shipping to get it, well you get the picture. And last but not least the Origami Shirt pattern. Its made from 6 fat quarters.

Now I'm off to work on putting binding on my Bargello Butterfly Quilt and starting sewing on my PIF projects.....Marj

Charleston Quilt Show Trip part 1

My Quilting Friends and I drove to the Charleston, SC area on Thursday. Our first stop was lunch, where they took me to The Eclectic Chef  Eatery in Summerville, SC.

 

The food was delicious and the Chef was very nice, we will all probably eat there again.

  

Our next stop in Summerville was People Places & Quilts, a very nice quilt shop, with lots of great fabric and patterns. I was unable to get the other girls to join in the picture, even though I was letting them use the grownup chairs (They were too shy to be seen on the blog) They have two locations, Summerville and Charleston. We of course visited both.

  

I bought this sampler pattern book. It was designed by the owner of People Places & Quilts, Diane F. Wilson. This is truly a keepsake quilt that I will make to commemorate my time living in the South.

  

This book is very detailed and at both shops there were examples of the quilt on their wall. Each was done with different fabrics to show that you can make it your own.

We ended Thursday by eating at R.B.'s Restaurant at Shem Creek in Mt Pleasant, SC. We had some of the best local seafood (very large portions) and also delicious deserts. Needless to say we were stuffed, but happy, then we went to the hotel to relax. Susan brought this beautiful quilt with her to finish sewing the binding.

  

 I love the quilting that she did herself on the long arm machine at our local quilt shoppe. You can take a class to learn how there and then you can rent the machine. Check HERE to find out how.

We got up Friday morning and went to the Charleston Cobblestone Quilt Show in downtown Charleston.

The quilting on this one was really well done. Tomorrow I will load the rest of the pictures that I took of the quilt show. I promise that I did not get but just a sampling of the quilts that were there.
