Scotty has been helping me press my little four patches. Chipper has been feeling under the weather. He seems to have caught a cold, if that is possible for a cat. His nose has been running like a faucet, he is sneezing and coughing. It is like when you have a sick baby, he just wants to be held. So far I have all my four patches sewn and next I will put them together to make the three and a half inch sixteen patches.

This is the background fabric that I picked up today.

Scrap quilt...

 I have had this scrap quilt on my to do list for awhile. I was just waiting for the right scraps. I found some blue/cream four patches that I made some time ago and using them to make a 16-patch matches the size of the 9-patch in this pattern.

So, I went through the leftover blue/cream scraps from a recently finished quilt and cut enough parts to the make patched squares for this quilt. I have my BOM tomorrow and will find a cream for the background. This will be a fun top to quilt.

The weeds are under control...

 My three new gardenia dwarf bushes are now planted. The iris have been dug up and moved.

 The weeds are gone from this bed and the iris have found their new home.

 This bed is also ready for weed cloth and mulch. I also need to order a few more dwarf azalea bushes to plant in the fall. I put a couple of iris starts on either side behind the tea olive bush.

The kitty boys have been resting up so they will be ready for quilting later.

Where have I been?...

I have been having Computer problems. Our computer is divided into three users and for some reason when I try to log in it has been giving me a temporary space. When it puts me in the temporary space I cannot get to my pictures and other utilities. But, sometimes it lets me on.

 I have five flower beds that have been over taken by weeds in the July heat.

 We have been lucky here the last few days, as it has been raining and that made it cool enough to pull weeds. This bed looked just as bad as the first one pictured above. I still have some irises to move from here to the bed pictured above, when the weeds are pulled.

This bed is now ready to get weed cloth and mulch applied. My biggest problem is that by the time I get the weeds pulled, I am to tired and sore to get the job finished right away. But, this time I am not going to let the weeds get the best of me.

Soon I hope to get back to my quilting. for me quilting is much more fun than gardening. I love the flowers, but the weeds kick my butt.
